Obviously there’s no single best gift, because it depends on budget and the person. Under $25, a retro game mug ($13.99) or T-shirt ($22.99) from Retro Gaming Shirts & Gifts works well. Builders will like the LEGO Game Boy ($59.99) or the new LEGO Donkey Kong Arcade ($199.99), which is this year’s splurge LEGO set for gamers.

Is the LEGO Game Boy still available?
Yes. LEGO released set 72046 for the holidays in 2025 and it sounds like it will stay in production until late 2027 or 2028, but LEGO sets can retire early, so buy it now if it’s the main gift.
What is a good retro gift for someone who doesn’t want to set anything up?
The Super Pocket is a plug-and-play handheld with built-in games and Evercade cartridge support. The Analogue Pocket plays original Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance cartridges, so it’s best for someone who already owns games.
